Labour Day Is a Pledge to End Exploitation and Secure Workers’ Rights: Mir Kabir Ahmed of National Party

Quetta – National Party’s Secretary General and former Senator Mir Kabir Ahmed Muhammad Shahi, in his Labour Day message, emphasized that May 1st is a day of solidarity, recognition, and renewed commitment to the struggle for workers’ rights and the end of exploitation. He paid tribute to the unwavering struggle, sacrifices, and perseverance of the global working class, describing workers as the backbone of economies, driving progress with their sweat and blood.

Mir Kabir noted that despite their central role in development, workers remain deprived of their basic rights. He pointed out that Pakistan’s state structure remains dominated by an elite class, leaving oppressed nations and marginalized groups to face economic, social, and political exploitation. “Farmers, laborers, and public servants, who keep the country running, are the worst victims of poverty, inflation, unemployment, injustice, and lawlessness,” he said.

Speaking specifically about Balochistan, he criticized successive governments for their neglect and exploitative policies. He stated that the agriculture sector has collapsed, trawler mafias have robbed local fishermen of their livelihood, and mining has been handed over to federal authorities and multinational companies, sidelining locals. Government employees are frequently on the streets protesting for their rights, while border trade closures have left thousands of families struggling for survival.

He reaffirmed that the National Party stands with workers and is committed to building a democratic, federal, and socially just system. “We are determined to protect labor rights, promote fair wages, ensure safe working conditions, and eliminate all forms of exploitation,” he stated.

Mir Kabir also reiterated the party’s support for policies that empower workers, farmers, employees, women, and other underprivileged communities. “The future of any nation depends on the welfare of its people — especially its working class,” he said.

He concluded by declaring the National Party’s ongoing struggle for a society free of national, class-based, gender, and all forms of exploitation — where social justice, equality, prosperity, decent work, fair compensation, and development opportunities are available to all.
