PDMA Placed on High Alert in Balochistan Ahead of Possible Snowfall, All Units Deployed

**Quetta:** Following directives from Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti and Chief Secretary Shakil Qadir Khan, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has been placed on high alert in anticipation of potential snowfall and adverse weather conditions across the province.

The Chief Minister has instructed that hourly updates on the situation be submitted, while he personally monitors developments continuously. In line with these instructions, PDMA Director General Jahanzeb Khan Ghory Zai has issued special directives to all departments, ordering all snow clearance units to remain active and ready for immediate action if required.

Field operations will be supervised by directors and deputy directors, while specific responsibilities have been assigned to key officials. Director Relief Attaullah Mengal, Director Admin Faisal Naseem Panizai, and Deputy Director Faisal Tariq Khan (Admin & Relief) will ensure mobilization and resource availability on the ground. Director Rescue Naveed Ahmed Sheikh and Deputy Director Rescue Asghar Ali Jamali will keep all rescue teams on high alert for rapid response in emergencies.

Deputy Director DRM Suleman Aziz Mengal will oversee operations at the headquarters and the Provincial Emergency Operations Center (PEOC), including emergency situations in Quetta city and its surrounding areas. The PEOC will remain operational 24/7, handling coordination, monitoring, tracking, reporting, and ensuring effective resource management.

DG PDMA emphasized that during previous snowfall, PDMA successfully prevented major road closures and rescued stranded individuals and vehicles. This time, PDMA, in full coordination with district administrations/DDMAs, will take proactive measures to minimize the impact of severe weather.
