Indian Propaganda Exposed Regarding Water Blockage After Pahalgam Incident

Islamabad: Following the Pahalgam incident, India’s propaganda regarding the blockage of water and the release of additional water into the Jhelum River has been exposed. According to sources, India will attempt to justify its unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, but this effort is nothing more than a crude attempt to deceive its own citizens.
India initially tried to create the impression of a flood-like situation by releasing extra water into the Jhelum River, which resulted in a flow of 22,000 cusecs passing through the Domel area in Muzaffarabad.
After the unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, the Ministry of Water Resources and WAPDA are monitoring the western rivers, but India lacks the capability to stop or alter the flow of these rivers. As a result, Pakistan’s water requirements are not at risk.
Currently, India only has a total storage capacity of 0.624 million acre-feet of water in the western rivers, while Pakistan’s Mangla reservoir alone has a capacity of 7.35 million acre-feet. Therefore, there is no significant or permanent threat to Pakistan’s water supply.
Sources indicate that India’s actions are primarily aimed at creating a narrative. The Ministry of Water Resources and WAPDA are continuously monitoring the situation and providing timely updates.
Experts have stated that, at present, Pakistan faces no immediate threat regarding water security. However, given the context of climate change, it is crucial for Pakistan to fast-track the construction of large water reservoirs.
