Virat Kohli’s One IPL Season Salary Surpasses Combined Earnings of Pakistan’s Top 10 Cricketers

Mumbai: Indian cricket superstar Virat Kohli’s earnings from a single season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) have surpassed the combined salaries of Pakistan’s top 10 cricketers participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
In the 10th edition of the PSL, Pakistan’s leading cricket stars are representing various franchises, with Australian batter David Warner being the most expensive pick. Warner, who went unsold in the IPL 2024 auction, was picked by Karachi Kings in the platinum category and is also leading the side. He is set to earn $300,000 (over PKR 84.1 million) for the season.
Interestingly, during IPL 2024, Warner was picked by Delhi Capitals for INR 6.25 crore. Meanwhile, other high-paid PSL players such as Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Fakhar Zaman, Daryl Mitchell, Saim Ayub, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan, and Matthew Short are each earning around PKR 18.8 million (USD ~$67,000).
When the total earnings of the PSL’s top 10 players are combined, they still fall short compared to what several IPL stars earn individually. Six IPL players—including Rishabh Pant (INR 27 crore), Shreyas Iyer (INR 26.75 crore), Venkatesh Iyer (INR 23.75 crore), Heinrich Klaasen (INR 23 crore), Nicholas Pooran (INR 21 crore), and Virat Kohli (INR 21 crore)—are each earning more than the combined salaries of the PSL’s top 10 earners.
