Call for Resignations from Sussex Cricket Board After ECB Intervention and Point Deductions

**Islamabad (Qudrat Daily):** Following financial issues and subsequent point deductions by the England Cricket Board (ECB) along with placing Sussex County Cricket Club under “special measures,” a group of former players and club sponsors have demanded the resignation of key board members.

An open letter published Friday morning was signed by former Sussex captains Chris Adams, Ian Gould, and Alan Wells, as well as international players including Matt Prior, Mushtaq Ahmed, and Murray Goodwin, alongside several club sponsors. The letter called for the board to step down to allow a “clean and independent leadership” to take charge of the club. The board is currently chaired by John Falvey.

The ECB announced on Monday that, after substantial financial losses over the past two years, Sussex had entered a three-year financial framework agreement to secure additional funding. Under this arrangement, the club will face point deductions in all three 2026 men’s competitions, and player salaries will be capped for the next three years.
