Funeral Prayers Offered for Former Afghan Cricketer Shapoor Zadran in Kabul

Kabul: Funeral prayers for former Afghanistan fast bowler Shapoor Zadran were offered in Kabul, with thousands of mourners attending to pay their final respects.

According to the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), the funeral was attended by ACB board members, former and current Afghan cricketers, as well as a large number of members of the public.

Shapoor Zadran had been battling cancer and passed away a few days ago after a prolonged illness.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board said his body was flown from India to Kabul on Wednesday. Zadran had been receiving medical treatment in India before his death.

Shapoor Zadran was one of Afghanistan’s pioneering fast bowlers and played a key role in the country’s rise in international cricket, representing the national team in both One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).
