Balochistan Government to Launch ‘Kisan Card’ for Farmers: DG Agriculture
Quetta:Director General of Agriculture Extension, Masood Ahmed Baloch, has announced that the Government of Balochistan is set to launch the *Kisan Card* (Farmer Card) to provide farmers with modern agricultural support, financial assistance, and direct access to government subsidies. He urged all farmers to register themselves with the Agriculture Extension Department to be eligible for the card.
Speaking at a high-level meeting regarding the launch of the Kisan Card, DG Agriculture highlighted that this initiative, led by Provincial Minister for Agriculture Mir Ali Hassan Zehri, aims to empower farmers across Balochistan. The meeting was attended by representatives from all agricultural wings including Agricultural Research, Agricultural Engineering, Adaptive Research, Floriculture, and Plant Protection, along with representatives from the UltraSoft firm who presented a progress report on the card’s development.
Masood Ahmed Baloch emphasized that agriculture officers and staff must ensure the dissemination of modern agricultural knowledge to farmers without any negligence or delay. He clarified that only registered farmers with the Agriculture Extension Department will be eligible for the Kisan Card.
“The Kisan Card will assist farmers in resolving financial issues, accessing credible agricultural information, and obtaining bank loans. It will also enable them to benefit from government incentives and subsidies from the comfort of their homes,” he stated.
He further explained that registered farmers will be able to receive government subsidies through banks, which will include support for watercourse construction, access to research from the Agriculture Engineering Department, and government-approved subsidies for seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other farming inputs.
Farmers across Balochistan who have not yet registered are urged to visit their district Agriculture Extension Office at the earliest to benefit from this revolutionary initiative.
