Babar Azam Criticized for Dropping Easy Catches and Underperforming in PSL 10

Lahore: In a disappointing turn of events during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam once again found himself at the center of criticism for his poor fielding and batting performance.
During the match against Islamabad United, Babar dropped two catches that could have easily been taken even in a local neighborhood cricket game. The first catch was dropped near the boundary, while the second one slipped from his hands as if the ball itself knew that the “captain” would let it go.
Islamabad United took full advantage of these missed opportunities, posting an imposing total of 243 runs. As for Babar Azam, he once again fell short with the bat, scoring only a single run before getting out at slip.
Former Test cricketer Basit Ali was particularly vocal in his criticism, stating that Babar’s captaincy is dragging the team down. “The bowler who concedes just 9 runs in an over, you remove him and then bring him back – is this captaincy or a series of experiments?” he remarked.
In an interesting admission, Babar himself acknowledged that the team’s plans were not being implemented effectively. However, it seems no one reminded him that a captain’s job is not just to “think” but also to “execute” those plans.
Babar’s repeated failures have placed him among the top players with the most ducks in PSL history, currently sitting in third place for the most times dismissed for a score of zero.
The question now arises: When will Babar Azam learn from his mistakes? Or will Zalmi finally realize that teams don’t win based on names, but on consistent performances?
For Babar’s supporters, all one can do is pray or perhaps consider hiring a fielding coach to at least help him catch the ball.
