Army Chief Confirms Pakistan’s Potential as a Global Leader in the Mineral Economy

Islamabad: In a recent address at the Pakistan Mineral Investment Forum 2025, Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir emphasized that the Pakistani people have vast mineral resources beneath their feet and exceptional skills in their hands, leaving no room for despair. He expressed firm belief that Pakistan is ready to emerge as a global leader in the mineral economy.
General Munir welcomed international institutions to bring their expertise to Pakistan, explore investment opportunities, and partner with the country to promote and develop its vast resource potential.
He stated that extracting Pakistan’s mineral wealth requires engineers, geologists, operators, and many skilled miners. In this regard, the military is sending students abroad for training, with 27 students from Balochistan currently undergoing mineral exploration training in Zambia and Argentina.
The Army Chief emphasized that the goal is also to develop human resources, skills, and workforce for the mineral sector. He pointed out that economic security has emerged as a key component of national security, and the Pakistan Army will ensure a strong security framework and active measures to protect the interests and confidence of its partners and investors.
Speaking further at the forum, General Munir assured that both upstream and downstream mineral industries in Pakistan would be developed. He highlighted the importance of investment in refining and value addition to improve costs and diversify markets.
With vast mineral resources, skilled manpower, and a transparent mineral policy in place, General Munir stressed that there is no room for despair or inaction. He urged the nation to move forward, work hard for the country’s prosperity, and strive for their own success.
The Army Chief also acknowledged the efforts of Baloch tribal leaders, who have played a significant role in promoting mining activities and contributing to the development and progress of Balochistan. By working together, Pakistan’s mineral sector can drive regional development, prosperity, and sustainability for collective benefit.
General Munir concluded by assuring Pakistani partners and investors that they could rely on Pakistan as a trustworthy partner in harnessing the country’s mineral wealth for mutual benefit.
