IHC Seeks Academic Record of Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri from Karachi University

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has sought the academic record of Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri’s law degree from Karachi University through the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Azam Khan has scheduled the next hearing of the case for December 9 and issued a written order directing that the degree record be obtained and presented before the court.
According to the written order, the court has asked for the degree record without commenting on its merit. The HEC’s authorized body has been instructed to acquire the relevant documents from Karachi University and submit them along with verification of the law degree.
The court has also summoned a competent Karachi University official familiar with the relevant facts to appear before the IHC. After reviewing the degree record and determining the maintainability of the petition, further proceedings will be conducted.
The IHC added that the court-appointed amicus curiae should assist on the issue of maintainability at the next hearing.
