Quetta:Pakistan Railways has decided to suspend the Bolan Mail and Jaffar Express services for three days following the terrorist attack on the Jaffar Express in Bolan. According to railway officials, this decision was made in the aftermath of the attack on the train.

Officials confirmed that the passenger train from Quetta to Chaman has also not been dispatched yet. The attack occurred near the Panir Railway Station in Kachhi Bolan, where terrorists hijacked the Jaffar Express, taking 400 passengers hostage.

The attack unfolded when the train, traveling from Quetta to Peshawar, was targeted by militants as it neared Sibi. The terrorists detonated explosives on the track, causing the train to derail. The attackers then opened fire from the surrounding mountains, injuring the train driver. The wounded driver managed to drive the train back into a tunnel, but the terrorists surrounded and captured both ends of the train, taking passengers hostage.

A military operation is currently underway with four gunship helicopters involved, along with special commandos who have successfully killed 16 terrorists and rescued 104 passengers, including women and children.

According to senior railway official Imran Hayat, at least 10 people, including the train driver, were martyred in the terrorist attack. The authorities continue to work diligently to free the remaining hostages and bring the situation under control.
