Qesco Continues Disconnecting Agricultural Tubewell Connections, Appeals for Cooperation

Quetta:Quetta Electric Supply Company (KESCO) has continued its efforts to disconnect agricultural tubewell connections that have been converted to solar energy. The work is progressing rapidly in Phase Two, following the completion of Phase One.
In Phase One, KESCO disconnected agricultural connections in the districts of Quetta and Pishin, removing transformers, HT poles, and other electrical equipment. These connections had received financial assistance from the government for the solarization initiative. During this campaign, agricultural connections were disconnected from the KESCO network.
However, some agricultural users have shown non-cooperation by removing their transformers, poles, and other equipment and taking them along. In certain areas, landowners replaced the copper coils of transformers with aluminum coils and removed oil and other materials from the transformers, replacing them with stones, bricks, and gravel to balance the weight of the transformers before handing them over to KESCO.
Out of 3,212 agricultural connections in Phase One, only 1,115 transformers and 1,379 HT poles were removed, while the remaining transformers were not returned to KESCO. In Phase Two, 4,662 connections are included, and so far, KESCO has removed transformers and other equipment from 1,600 of the 2,000 agricultural connections.
KESCO has urged all agricultural users who have received financial support for solarization to cooperate and return the transformers and associated electrical equipment to KESCO teams for disconnection. The company continues its work in Phase Two, ensuring a smooth transition and completion of the solarization process.
