Rana Sanaullah Addresses Cabinet Size, Cost-Cutting Measures, and Political Appointments

In a recent appearance on a private TV channel, senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and Prime Minister’s Special Assistant for Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, discussed the composition of the federal cabinet, measures to reduce expenditures, and political appointments within the government.
Rana Sanaullah clarified that the current number of cabinet members is within the limits permitted by the Constitution and law, and it is less than the maximum allowed. He emphasized that while the salary of a minister in a ministry with a multi-billion rupee budget may seem trivial, the need for political oversight of such ministries remains critical.
Addressing concerns about cost-cutting measures, he mentioned that steps have already been taken, and the details were shared during the previous cabinet meeting, which was also reported in the media. He reassured the public that the Prime Minister’s policies regarding salary payments and foreign trips would be followed by all cabinet members.
Regarding the appointment of Pervez Khattak to a ministry, Rana Sanaullah expressed confidence that it would not create any issues within the party. While political workers may have their own opinions, he stated, it is essential to consider the government’s priorities in making such decisions.
