Driver Denies Bribery Allegations in Chaman, Investigation Underway

Quetta:A recent incident in Chaman, where a video allegedly showing a Levies officer demanding a bribe from a bus driver went viral on social media, has sparked an investigation. Following the video’s circulation, Director General (DG) of Levies, Abdul Ghaffar Magsi, took notice and suspended the Levies constable involved, appointing the Assistant Commissioner of Chaman as the inquiry officer.
The Assistant Commissioner of Chaman conducted a thorough investigation and summoned the bus driver. During the investigation, the driver denied the bribery allegations, clarifying that the Levies officer did not ask for a bribe. The driver stated that the customs officials had stopped him and instructed him to take the goods back.
DG Levies Abdul Ghaffar Magsi confirmed that cameras are installed at the Gurdang Levies checkpoint and emphasized that all police station in-charges and SHOs must closely monitor their officers for corruption. He further stated that no leniency would be shown to officers involved in corruption or negligence.
