Pakistan Conducted Air and Drone Strikes on 10 Sites in Afghanistan: Atta Tarar

ISLAMABAD:Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Atta Tarar has said that Pakistan exercised its right to self-defence by carrying out air and drone strikes on 10 locations in Afghanistan on September 23.

In a statement posted on X, Atta Tarar strongly condemned what he described as the deliberate and illegal intrusion of drones from Afghan territory on September 23, calling it a blatant violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and a serious and unacceptable act of aggression.

The federal minister said Pakistan’s air defence systems detected all the intruding drones and destroyed them before they could reach their intended targets, adding that the attempt to launch drone attacks from Afghan territory had been completely thwarted.

He said that, in exercising its right to self-defence, Pakistan conducted air and drone strikes on 10 locations in Afghanistan that were being used to launch and store the drones.

According to Atta Tarar, the strikes were deliberate, precise, proportionate and limited to identified military targets directly linked to attacks against Pakistan.

He said Pakistan would not accept attacks originating from Afghan territory, whether carried out by militant groups or tolerated or supported by the Afghan Taliban government. Any violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty, he added, would receive an immediate and decisive response.

Atta Tarar called on the Afghan Taliban government to immediately halt all hostile activities against Pakistan and take effective and sustained action against militant elements operating from Afghan soil.

The minister said Pakistan did not want an escalation of tensions and remained committed to regional peace, dialogue and constructive engagement. However, he stressed that Pakistan’s commitment to peace should not be interpreted as weakness or as an indication that hostile actions would be tolerated indefinitely.

He said Pakistan would continue to protect its sovereignty, territorial integrity and citizens with full resolve.

Atta Tarar further warned that any additional provocative action by the Afghan Taliban would receive a strong and unequivocal response.
