Those Who Betrayed Imran Khan Faced Public Humiliation, Trump Is an Example: Journalist Iisar Rana

LAHORE: Senior journalist Iisar Rana has claimed that anyone who betrayed former prime minister Imran Khan after gaining political benefits in his name eventually faced public backlash, humiliation and disgrace, citing US President Donald Trump as an example.

Speaking during a private television programme, Iisar Rana said it was a law of nature that individuals who gained political advantages by associating themselves with a popular personality but later betrayed that person had to face the consequences of public reaction.

He argued that several politicians who secured votes and political benefits in Imran Khan’s name had faced public opposition and embarrassment after turning against him.

Referring to Donald Trump, Rana claimed that a similar situation had occurred with the US president. He also claimed that Imran Khan had expressed support for Trump during his first electoral victory.

During the discussion, programme host Mansoor Ali Khan asked whether Rana meant that Trump had won the election because of Imran Khan.

In response, Iisar Rana said he was not being given an opportunity to complete his argument and that the direction of the discussion was repeatedly being changed.

He maintained that his position could not be properly understood unless he was allowed to finish his point.

Rana Sanaullah Says Trump’s Electoral Defeat Neither Good Nor Bad for Pakistan

Meanwhile, Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Senator Rana Sanaullah has said that Donald Trump’s electoral defeat would neither be good nor bad news for Pakistan, stressing that Islamabad’s relations are based on the interests of countries rather than individual political leaders.

Speaking during an ARY News programme, Rana Sanaullah said PTI supporters had previously claimed that Trump’s return to power would change the political situation, but were now suggesting that his defeat would harm the government.

“PTI supporters were wrong then, and they are wrong now,” he remarked.

He said Pakistan’s relationship was with the American people and that changes in US political leadership had limited implications for the country’s diplomatic relations.

Commenting on regional developments, Rana Sanaullah said the conflict between the United States and Iran was continuing, while Pakistan maintained respectful relations with both Iran and Saudi Arabia.

He added that despite tensions between Tehran and Riyadh, Pakistan enjoyed the confidence of Saudi Arabia while also maintaining its relationship with Iran.

According to him, the wisdom of Pakistan’s political and military leadership had helped establish relations based on mutual respect with these countries.

Rana Sanaullah emphasised that international relations were determined by national interests rather than personal preferences or political affiliations.

He said Pakistan could not interfere in the bilateral relations of other countries and would continue to pursue its own national interests.

He reiterated that changes in US electoral politics had very limited influence on Pakistan’s diplomatic relationships.
