KP Is No One’s Estate; Robbery of Public Mandate Unacceptable — Shafiq Jan

Peshawar — PTI leader Shafiq Jan has said that silence over the abduction of Sohail Afridi, Babar Saleem Swati, and provincial president Junaid Akbar is unacceptable, and their whereabouts and safety must be clarified immediately.

In a statement on X, he said that governor’s rule and emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa constitute a serious violation of the public mandate and democratic rights. The people’s vote was trampled by force, he said, adding that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is no one’s estate — it is the people’s province, and robbing its mandate through force is unacceptable under any circumstances. He said a group rejected by the people has been imposed through force, whose aim is not to eliminate terrorism but to target PTI.

Shafiq Jan said reports of a raid or action at Murad Saeed’s house are extremely alarming. Harassing any political leader or their family on the basis of dissent is unacceptable in any form, he said, calling for respect for the sanctity of homes, citizens’ fundamental rights, and political freedoms, and for an end to political revenge.

He said the disappearance of elected representatives, PTI organizational colleagues, and IDF doctors is a serious question mark over the rule of law, and an immediate clarification regarding their whereabouts and safety must be given.
