Asad Qaiser Hints at PTI’s Mass Resignations from Assemblies, Warns of Full-Blown Anti-Government Movement

ISLAMABAD (Qudrat Daily) — Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader and former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser has expressed deep frustration over the effectiveness of the current parliamentary system and the media blackout, signaling a move toward collective resignations from the assemblies and an anti-government movement.

Speaking on senior journalist Hamid Mir’s program, Qaiser said he is currently deeply disappointed with the proceedings of the assembly and the existing political system. “I believe Parliament has lost its significance. Even if you raise the people’s stance in Parliament, it is not broadcast in the media. When neither is one heard in Parliament nor is justice obtained from the courts, it means the entire system has collapsed,” he said.

Discussing the option of resignations from the assemblies, the former NA speaker said, “I personally believe that PTI should now exit the assemblies. However, a final decision in this regard will be made only after the party’s entire leadership sits together and after collective consultation, which I will fully abide by.”

Criticizing the federal government, Qaiser claimed that PTI still possesses enough public power today to topple the federal government through a long march. However, he said, given the risk of bloodshed and unrest in the country, workers have currently been directed not to take to the streets.

“We can bring millions of people onto the streets even today, but the result would be that our people would be shot at directly on the roads and several innocent bodies would fall. To avoid this bloodshed and to keep the country safe from confrontation, PTI itself has decided to hold back public protests for now, but a full and organized movement against the government will certainly be launched when the appropriate time comes,” he added.
