FIA Busts Illegal Fuel Storage in Karachi, Seizes Thousands of Liters of Petrol

Karachi: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has carried out a major operation against illegal fuel storage in Karachi, recovering tens of thousands of liters of petrol during a raid in the city’s Korangi Industrial Area.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the Anti-Corruption Circle Karachi conducted the raid at an illegal oil storage facility in Mehran Town as part of Inquiry No. 61/2026. During the operation, officials seized a tanker with a capacity of 50,000 liters, containing 49,838 liters of petrol (RON-92).
Initial investigations revealed that the fuel was being siphoned and illegally transported. The petrol was transferred into temporary drums and then distributed to various petrol pumps through smaller vehicles.
Following information provided by the tanker driver, FIA officials conducted another raid at Mughal Filling Station (Lucky Petroleum). Investigations found that the station’s petroleum license was fake after verification by the Department of Explosives, prompting further legal action against the network.
The FIA has registered a case against multiple suspects under sections 409, 406, 420, 468, 471, and 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The accused include Muhammad Tariq, Riaz Khan, Abdul Hameed, Liaquat Ali, Dilnawaz, Umar Hayat, Ahmed Khan, Rafiq, Raza Khan, and Fahmeed Khan.
The agency stated that further investigations are ongoing and emphasized that strict action will continue against those involved in illegal oil storage, fuel theft, and the use of fake licenses, which cause significant losses to the national exchequer.
