Critics of Maulana Fazlur Rehman Are Actually Weakening Stable Politics in the Country: Mir Younus Aziz Zehri

Quetta (Power Daily) — Central leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) and Leader of the Opposition in the Balochistan Assembly, Mir Younus Aziz Zehri, has said that JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman is a stalwart of politics, and that no leader as prudent, astute, and experienced as him exists in the country’s politics. Maulana Fazlur Rehman has stood by the country at every difficult juncture, he added.

Speaking to reporters, Zehri said that whenever a political crisis arose in the country, democracy came under threat, or the Constitution was endangered, Maulana always set aside personal interests and prioritized national interest. He said the unjust criticism being leveled against Maulana Fazlur Rehman today is extremely concerning. Those criticizing him forget that he is the same leader who waged the longest struggle for the restoration of democracy in the country and stood firm in the face of every challenge.

Zehri stated that Maulana Fazlur Rehman has always believed in the politics of reconciliation and dialogue. To save the country from unrest, he has always tried to bring political forces to the negotiating table, which is why all political parties today acknowledge his political vision. He said that while they certainly have a political grievance with the PML-N — that JUI extended unconditional support to the PML-N in every difficult time, stood shoulder to shoulder with it even during the harshest period of opposition, treated its difficulties as their own, and created ease for it — today the PML-N is at the forefront of those damaging democracy the most, and Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s fact-based stance is proving heavy for it.

The opposition leader said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman has millions of supporters and workers across all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir. His politics is not regional but national and countrywide. Maulana Fazlur Rehman has supported the country’s dignity and democratic continuity at every difficult stage. He is the only politician who has always played his role in pulling the country out of political instability and sacrificed personal grievances for national interest. He said that the political wisdom and prudence the country needs today is possessed only by Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Politicians should learn from him how to advance the country’s politics without compromising on principles.

Mir Younus Aziz Zehri said that those criticizing Maulana Fazlur Rehman actually want to weaken stable politics in the country. They do not want a strong and experienced leadership to remain in the country that can guide the nation in every crisis. He said that JUI Balochistan stands like a rock with its leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman. “We will defend his narrative on every forum, and, God willing, in the times to come it will be proven that the solution to the country’s problems lies in Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s style of politics, and that Maulana Fazlur Rehman is the true axis of the country’s politics.”
