Government’s Flawed Policy Is Beyond Comprehension; Closing Chaman and Sibi Railways While Opening Kachlak Railway Is Being Called Development: Senator Maulana Abdul Wasay

Quetta (Daily Qudrat Quetta) — Provincial Amir of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Balochistan Senator Maulana Abdul Wasay has said that the government’s flawed and unclear policy is beyond comprehension. On one hand, employment avenues for the people are being restricted, and on the other, an important development institution like the Balochistan Development Authority (BDA) has been abolished, as a result of which the future of thousands of employees has been pushed into uncertainty. The Balochistan Development Authority has played an important role in the province’s development, planning, and construction. Abolishing such an institution with a stroke of the pen and putting the future of thousands of employees associated with it at stake raises serious questions about the government’s policy and priorities.

He said that the government’s development priorities can also be gauged from the fact that Chaman-Quetta and Sibi-Harnai railway services have been shut down, while opening the Kachlak-Saryab railway is being called development. Such steps raise the question of whether providing basic travel facilities and restoring existing infrastructure to the people is the priority, or whether merely making announcements and decorative measures is intended to be called development. He expressed these views while speaking to a large delegation of Balochistan Development Authority employees at his residence.

He said that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam will fight the case of employees’ legitimate, legal, and constitutional rights with full force on every forum and will not leave them helpless under any circumstances. He said that at present Balochistan is already facing a serious economic and administrative crisis; borders are closed, inter-provincial trade and movement are affected, important highways are blocked, the business community is distressed, while agriculture is suffering devastation. The mines and minerals sector, on one hand, is facing uncertainty regarding allotments, and on the other, due to the deteriorating law and order situation, mining activities, work, and transportation are being affected, due to which the people are facing difficulties. In such circumstances, instead of creating new employment opportunities, abolishing an entire department and pushing thousands of employees associated with it into uncertainty about the future raises serious questions about the government’s planning and priorities.

Senator Maulana Abdul Wasay made it clear that to protect the legitimate rights of employees, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam will raise its voice on every constitutional, legal, and democratic forum and will stand with them at every level in the struggle for their rights.

Meanwhile, he said that a Shuhada-e-Islam Conference is being organized by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Balochistan on October 9, which will be held in memory of Shaheed Maulana Muhammad Hanif and other Shuhada-e-Islam of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, in which tribute will be paid to the religious, national, political, and democratic services of the martyrs.
