UAE Announces New Petroleum Prices for October

Abu Dhabi (Qudrat Daily) — The United Arab Emirates has increased petroleum product prices for the month of October 2026, raising the per-litre price to more than 4 dirhams, the highest fuel price in the last four years. The over 16 percent increase in fuel prices comes amid rising tensions in the Middle East and a surge in crude oil prices in the global market.
According to Gulf media, the UAE Fuel Price Committee on Wednesday officially announced the new petrol prices for October 2026. Under the new prices, Super 98 petrol has been raised from 3.80 dirhams to 4.40 dirhams per litre, Special 95 from 3.69 dirhams to 4.28 dirhams per litre, and E-Plus 91 from 3.61 dirhams to 4.21 dirhams per litre, with a significant increase of 60 fils per litre across all categories.
It is noteworthy that this is the first time since the Russia-Ukraine war in February 2022 that petrol prices in the UAE have exceeded 4 dirhams per litre. Previously, petrol prices had reached their highest level in history in July 2022. The primary cause of this fuel price hike in the global market at present is serious tension between the United States and Iran and fears of a closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
Reports indicate that during September 2026, Brent crude oil in the global market continued to sell above $100 per barrel. On Wednesday morning, the price of Brent was recorded at $102.80 and US WTI at $89.28 per barrel. US President Donald Trump’s denial of easing sanctions on Iran and the ongoing tensions have caused severe turmoil in the markets, which has increased inflationary pressure globally.
