UAE Begins Repatriation of Afghan Nationals Amid Regional Concerns

Abu Dhabi: Following Pakistan and Iran, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has begun repatriating Afghan nationals who fled Afghanistan after the Taliban took control of the country. The repatriation process from the UAE started on July 10.
According to reports, around 200,000 Afghan citizens were given temporary refuge in the UAE upon a request from the United States. However, neighboring countries, including Iran and Pakistan, have started viewing these Afghan nationals as a security risk.
The move comes as regional concerns about the presence of refugees continue to rise, with both Iran and Pakistan expressing growing apprehension over the influx of displaced individuals. The UAE is now taking steps to return these individuals to Afghanistan as part of a broader regional effort to address the refugee situation.
