Jeddah Tower Reaches 454 Metres as Saudi Arabia Moves to Claim World’s Tallest Building Title from Dubai

Islamabad — Saudi Arabia’s under-construction Jeddah Tower is set to take the title of the world’s tallest building from Dubai’s Burj Khalifa once completed.
The project has crossed a major milestone, with the tower now standing at 454 metres. It has already reached 113 floors and surpassed Malaysia’s Petronas Towers, once among the world’s tallest buildings.
Designed by US architecture firm Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture (AS+GG) and being built by the Saudi Binladin Group, Jeddah Tower is planned to rise to about 3,280 feet (roughly one kilometre) when finished. That would make it the first building in the world to exceed one kilometre in height.
Burj Khalifa currently holds the record at 2,722 feet with 163 floors. Interestingly, Adrian Smith also designed Burj Khalifa, though he was then with a different firm.
