ANP Rejects Governor’s Rule or Emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Peshawar (Qudrat Daily) — Awami National Party (ANP) central president Aimal Wali Khan has strongly opposed any possible imposition of governor’s rule or emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by the federal government, saying that “we will never support any such unconstitutional move.”

Speaking to the media while reacting to the current political and security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said that imposing governor’s rule or emergency in the province would not resolve issues but would instead worsen and intensify the situation.

Reacting sharply to the statements of Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, Aimal Wali Khan said that those who are today pointing fingers and claiming that PTI is a supporter of terrorists should remember that PML-N itself has been a supporter of even bigger terrorists than PTI, and those running the country have completely destroyed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Criticizing the Federal Minister for Interior, he said that Mohsin Naqvi knows neither the Constitution, nor traditions, nor has any understanding of democracy. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is an older region than Pakistan itself and has a history spanning thousands of years — how can you divide it?

Covering the political situation across all provinces, Aimal Wali Khan demanded that if questions are being raised today about the transparency and legal status of general elections in the country, then why is interference being carried out only in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa? If new elections are to be held, then fresh and transparent elections should be conducted immediately not just in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but across the entire country.
