Punjab Government Responds to Flour Mills’ Refusal to Supply Subsidized Wheat Flour

Islamabad: The Punjab government has announced decisive measures after flour mills refused to provide subsidized wheat flour, vowing to ensure uninterrupted supply and stable prices of wheat and bread despite ongoing challenges.

According to sources, the provincial government has directed price control magistrates to take immediate action against hoarding of wheat and flour. The task has also been handed over to *PRA force* to curb illegal storage and ensure smooth market availability.

The government has further decided to strictly enforce a ban on the use of wheat in feed mills to protect public food security.

Officials confirmed that bread prices will be capped at Rs14 per roti, while a 20kg flour bag will not be allowed to exceed Rs1,800.

The move comes amid fears of hoarding and artificial price hikes in the wake of floods, with authorities determined to prevent exploitation of consumers and stabilize the wheat and flour supply chain.
