Inside Story of the Meeting Between Sohail Afridi and Ali Amin Gandapur

DERA ISMAIL KHAN (Qudrat Daily) — The inside, sensational story of the important meeting held in Dera Ismail Khan between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and former Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur has surfaced, in which detailed consultation took place on the survival of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, the threat of governor’s rule or emergency from the federation, and the options for dissolving the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly if the situation deteriorates.

According to sources in an ARY News report, detailed discussions took place between the two leaders on political and provincial affairs, in which Chief Minister Sohail Afridi briefed Ali Amin Gandapur on the situation in the province. During the conversation, concern was expressed that the federal government is seriously hinting at imposing emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and if the provincial government is to be saved, then for the time being, not directly using the words “long march” would be political wisdom.

The report, citing sources, stated that during the meeting, discussion also took place on the expected decision of the federal constitutional court, as a result of which the possibility of Ali Amin Gandapur’s return as Chief Minister could arise. On this, Ali Amin Gandapur expressed his determination to prioritize party interests over power. Both leaders agreed that if the situation goes completely into a dead end, the option of dissolving the KP Assembly with the permission of the parliamentary party could be used. On this occasion, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said that if the parliamentary party grants permission, he can dissolve the assembly immediately.

The report further revealed through sources that both leaders also discussed Imran Khan’s severe displeasure and grief and anger. During a meeting in Adiala Jail, Imran Khan, in the presence of Bushra Bibi, a senator and his sisters, expressed severe anger, naming Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and other senior party officials, and complained to them directly about not being consulted on matters such as dissolving the assembly.
