55 Chagai Students Secure RDMC Scholarships for IBA Sukkur Foundation Programme

REKO DIQ, CHAGAI, 2026: The Reko Diq Mining Company (RDMC) has awarded fully funded scholarships to 55 students from District Chagai for the Foundation Programme at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Sukkur.

A scholarship award ceremony was held at the Reko Diq project site and attended by students, parents, community representatives and RDMC officials.

The successful students are part of the second batch of the RDMC Scholarship Programme, which aims to strengthen the academic capabilities of intermediate-level students from Chagai and prepare them for admission to leading universities across Pakistan.

Welcoming the scholarship recipients, Reko Diq Project General Manager Ryan Mitchell congratulated the students and encouraged them to make full use of the opportunity.

“This is not only a personal achievement but will also contribute to the broader development and prosperity of your communities and the region,” he said. He urged the students to continue their education with dedication, strive for excellence and use their education and skills to bring positive and constructive change to society.

Ryan Mitchell also thanked IBA Sukkur Vice Chancellor Dr Asif Sheikh and his team, as well as the RDMC Sustainability Team, for successfully conducting the Foundation Programme for the second consecutive year.

RDMC Sustainability Manager Stephen Herb highlighted the importance of education in community development, saying education was the foundation of strong and resilient communities.

He said every student present had earned the opportunity through hard work and dedication, while their families and communities had supported them by recognizing the importance of education.

Referring to the first batch of the Foundation Programme, Herb said 42 students from the 2025 batch had secured admission to various universities across Pakistan, reflecting the positive outcomes of the initiative.

Addressing the participants, RDMC Head of Human Resources Hanno Steiden encouraged all scholarship recipients to make the most of the opportunity, remain focused on their studies and work hard to build a better future.

RDMC Community Investment Team Lead Essa Tahir said the Reko Diq Scholarship Programme represented an investment in the potential, capabilities and future of Chagai’s youth.

“The success of 55 scholars today reflects our efforts to create educational opportunities for young people so they can utilize their abilities, turn their dreams into reality and contribute to the development of their communities,” he said.

He added that the students’ achievements would be a source of pride for Chagai and Balochistan.

Certificates were presented to the scholarship recipients at the ceremony. The students will now begin a six-month Foundation Programme at IBA Sukkur.

RDMC said education remains an important pillar of its sustainability strategy as the company continues to focus on inclusive and sustainable development.
