Arrests of PTI Leaders and Workers Before Protest Are Proof of Government’s Panic: Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party

Quetta (Daily Qudrat) — In a press release issued by the central secretariat of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), strong condemnation has been expressed over the political arrests, raids, and spreading of fear and panic that began ten days before the call for constitutional, political, and democratic protest in the country. The statement said that these tactics are in fact an open manifestation of the misdeeds of the clique imposed on the country and of the state and government’s anti-Constitution, anti-politics, and anti-democracy role. PkMAP expressed deep sorrow and regret over the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders and workers, including PTI founder Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Bibi, calling it beyond comprehension.
The statement made clear that the foundation of a state rests on the people and their political and democratic mandate, but the manner in which the public mandate was mocked in the recent so-called elections led to the disrespect of politics, democracy, Parliament, and especially political parties. On the other hand, by presenting negative social values such as corruption, plunder, bribery, commissions, and theft as positive, the country’s prestige has been trampled at the international level.
PkMAP said that keeping the party that won the election by a clear majority and its founder in jail is tantamount to shredding global human rights and the country’s Constitution and law. The statement stressed that to pull the country out of the current multifaceted crises and the regional situation, the immediate restoration of the Constitution and democracy, the dismissal of the imposed unelected and unrepresentative government, and the holding of fresh transparent elections are inevitable, which could restore the country’s prestige at the global level. At the end of the statement, it was warned that any coercive adventurism could prove dangerous in the future and must be avoided, because peaceful democratic protest is the constitutional and fundamental right of every individual in the country.
