Indian Naval Ship’s Provocation in Pakistan’s Exclusive Economic Zone: Pakistan Protests, Issues Warning for the Future

ISLAMABAD (Qudrat Daily) – Pakistan has strongly protested the violation and provocative actions by the Indian naval ship INS Kolkata in Pakistan’s Exclusive Economic Zone.

According to the Foreign Office, the Indian naval ship INS Kolkata carried out provocative and irresponsible actions within Pakistan’s maritime boundaries, and the Indian ship’s activities are a clear violation of the bilateral agreement.

The Foreign Office stated that the Pakistan Navy has been conducting Exercise Sea Spark 26 in Pakistan’s Exclusive Economic Zone since September 1, however, since September 7, the Indian naval ship and the helicopter deployed on it kept trying to enter the area of the Pakistan Navy’s exercises.

According to the Foreign Office, INS Kolkata carried out dangerous and provocative maneuvers close to Pakistan Navy ships. The Indian actions are not routine deployment but a violation of the 1991 bilateral agreement.

The Foreign Office said that despite numerous warnings, the Indian naval ship continued its irresponsible actions.

“On September 15, INS Kolkata changed course in a dangerous manner and collided with PNS Hunain. Despite evasive action by PNS Hunain, an incident of friction with the Indian ship occurred.”

According to the Foreign Office, after the incident, INS Kolkata increased speed and fled the area.

Indian Action Could Have Created a Serious Crisis: Foreign Office

The Foreign Office said that the Indian naval ship’s action was highly provocative and could have created a serious crisis, however, the professional and responsible conduct of the Pakistan Navy prevented the situation from deteriorating further.

Pakistan views the Indian Navy’s violations with extreme concern, while India is trying to escalate the matter at the diplomatic level by distorting the facts.

According to the Foreign Office, the Indian actions reflect a deliberate attempt to affect regional peace.

Pakistan demanded that India abide by bilateral agreements and responsible conduct, while Indian authorities should take immediate measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.

Pakistan made it clear that in the future, the current level of restraint in the face of Indian provocation should not be considered guaranteed.
