Solar Adoption Reduces Daytime Electricity Shortfall in Lahore Electric Supply Region

Lahore: The increasing use of solar energy by consumers has helped eliminate daytime electricity shortages in the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) region, according to official sources.

LESCO officials said that during the daytime, electricity demand stands at around 2,300 megawatts, which matches the allocated supply quota, resulting in no need for load shedding during daylight hours.

However, they added that at night, demand rises to approximately 3,000 megawatts against a supply of 2,600 megawatts, leading to one to two hours of urban load shedding and up to four hours in rural areas.

Authorities further stated that the situation is expected to improve further in the coming days as energy conditions stabilize and solar contribution continues to grow.
