Alleged Police Crackdown on 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal: PTI Worker Burnt After Falling into Hot Oil Cauldron Dies
LAHORE (Qudrat Roznama) – On the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal, during an alleged police raid, an active Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) worker, Ishtiaq Khan, who was severely burnt after falling into a cauldron of boiling oil, passed away after 18 days of struggling between life and death at Mayo Hospital. According to a statement issued on social media by PTI leader Zubair Khan Niazi, Ishtiaq Khan was severely injured in this tragic incident that occurred on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal and was shifted to Mayo Hospital for treatment. Despite the doctors’ prolonged efforts, he could not survive and succumbed to his wounds, meeting his Creator.

It has been reported that the funeral prayer of the deceased was offered today at noon at a graveyard located near GT Road in front of UET University, which was attended in large numbers by party workers and relatives.

It is pertinent to note that during a Milad gathering at the house of a close relative of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and PTI leader Zubair Niazi in the Rajgarh area of Lahore, police allegedly raided and detained several leaders and workers. PTI leader Zubair Niazi had stated that a heavy contingent of police raided his house in Rajgarh at a time when a Milad gathering was organized there. The police took 16 people into custody from the spot, including his mother, his brother Advocate Shargil Khan Niazi, Punjab Assembly member Saadia Ayoub, Ishtiaq Khan, Mubeen Ahmed, and Khalid Awan, and shifted them to the police station.
The PTI leader said that Ishtiaq Khan, who was present at the Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) gathering, and another person fell into a hot cauldron during a stampede when the police stormed the gathering. The regrettable thing is that even in an injured condition, the police arrested him and took him away, while the police released his mother shortly after taking her into custody. However, all other leaders, lawyers, and workers are still being kept in police custody.
