“Who Will Account for the 11 Billion Jet and Luxury Vehicles?” Moonis Elahi Questions Maryam Nawaz

LAHORE – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former federal minister Moonis Elahi has launched a scathing attack on Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, accusing her administration of financial corruption, excessive expenditures, and massive commissions on various development projects.

In a post on social media platform X, Moonis Elahi took aim at the Chief Minister’s recent statement—”I will not let anyone eat [the nation’s wealth]”—using the hashtag #MadamThiefMinister. He sarcastically questioned how the one making such claims could be trusted, comparing it to a cat guarding milk.

Elahi raised a series of pointed questions regarding alleged extravagant spending by the Punjab government. He demanded accountability for the purchase of an 11 billion rupee luxury aircraft and billions of rupees worth of luxury vehicles, asking who they were purchased for and whose funds were used.

He further alleged massive irregularities in several government projects. He claimed that billions of rupees were embezzled through the official wheat procurement scandal and the “Suthra Punjab” cleanliness program. He also accused the administration of siphoning off huge sums as commission in the procurement and delivery contracts for electric buses.

“If the Chief Minister claims to be a champion of transparency, then who is accountable for the billions in financial losses and commissions in all these projects?” Moonis Elahi demanded.

His statements come against the backdrop of recent rejections by the Punjab Chief Minister’s Office of Right to Information requests seeking details of the luxury jet, official vehicles, and foreign tours.
