Balochistan Assembly Tables Joint Resolution Condemning Minister Sadiq Umrani Over Remarks on 235 Individuals Summoned to Islamabad

Quetta: A joint condemnation resolution has been tabled in the Balochistan Assembly against Provincial Irrigation Minister Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani over remarks he made about 235 individuals summoned to Islamabad.

The resolution was moved by provincial ministers Mir Ziaullah Lango, Bakht Muhammad Kakar, Noor Muhammad Dummar and Ali Madad Jattak, along with MPAs Barkat Rind, Isfandiyar Kakar, parliamentary secretary Hadia Nawaz, Farah Azeem Shah and Ashok Kumar.

According to the text of the resolution, during the assembly sitting on August 31, 2026, Minister Umrani said that “235 people were called to Islamabad, and the MPAs were all sitting there; they were abused and then returned from there in a dignified manner.”

The movers described the remarks as misleading, inappropriate and objectionable. They said the words not only insulted honourable members of the assembly but also damaged the parliamentary standing, sanctity, dignity and privileges of the House. They further alleged that the statement amounted to an attempt to incite the public against the state.

The resolution stated that assembly members are elected representatives of the people, and respect for them reflects respect for the public mandate, democratic values and parliamentary institutions. It added that the use of unparliamentary, derogatory or insulting language against any honourable member is not merely an offence to one individual, but a collective insult to the House and all its elected members.

The movers expressed strong condemnation of the remarks and demanded that the words be expunged from the official record of the assembly proceedings.
