Jobs for Sale in Balochistan Departments: Admission on Assembly Floor Exposes Government’s Poor Governance — HDP

Nepotism and Corruption at Their Peak in the Province; Exploitation of Deserving and Unemployed Youth of Quetta Must Stop: Statement

QUETTA (Daily Qudrat Quetta) — In a central statement, the Hazara Democratic Party (HDP), commenting on reports of nepotism, favoritism, sale of posts, and the use of all other means of corruption in provincial departments — including during the provincial assembly session, where members of the ruling government accused one another of corruption in the provision of jobs — said that the exploitation of capable, hardworking, and deserving unemployed youth of Quetta has been ongoing for decades. During 2019, approximately 300 posts of Class-IV employees from Quetta in the WASA and Public Health departments were filled by recruiting people from Ziarat, Sanjawi, and Harnai districts, against which HDP assembly members at the time strongly protested on the assembly floor, terming it an injustice to Quetta’s unemployed youth. Today the same practice has resumed; for the past three years, Quetta’s youth have faced the worst kind of injustice and exploitation, with people from other districts being recruited against Quetta’s Class-IV posts. The statement said that since 2008, posts belonging to Quetta district across all departments have been filled through transfers, and this practice continues to this day; in this way, Quetta’s posts are filled while posts in other districts are left vacant and then filled through fresh recruitment. The statement said that today the imposed assembly members themselves admit on the floor how corruption is ongoing; this act of theirs points to the exploitation of the province’s truly deserving and unemployed youth and to the oppression and injustice against the people of Quetta. The statement said that during these three years, apart from a clerk’s post in any ministry, not even a single Class-IV job has been given to any unemployed Hazara youth, which in itself indicates nepotism and favoritism.
