Senator Kamran Murtaza Blames Rigged Elections for Political Crisis in Pakistan

Quetta:Senator Kamran Murtaza of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) has identified electoral fraud as the primary cause of Pakistan’s ongoing political crisis and instability. He stated that without the conduct of free, fair, and transparent elections, democratic stability in the country will remain unattainable.
In an exclusive interview with a private TV channel, Kamran Murtaza emphasized that Pakistan’s biggest problem lies in the rigged elections, which have resulted in growing public distrust. Opposition parties continue to demand new elections due to the lack of transparency. He pointed out that questions have been raised about the legitimacy of the current government, as the last general elections were marred by widespread irregularities.
The senator further explained that the alleged election rigging has weakened democratic institutions and cast doubt on the electoral process. He also mentioned that consultations are ongoing among opposition parties to form a grand alliance, although the specifics of the alliance have yet to be finalized.
Murtaza stressed that if Pakistan is to be governed according to the constitution and laws, all issues can be resolved. However, he lamented that polarization has affected all institutions, and it is crucial for every institution to work within its defined scope to prevent further erosion of the democratic and constitutional process.
He called on the government to immediately conduct free and fair elections to restore genuine democracy and allow the public to elect their true representatives, which would help bring political stability. Murtaza warned that if the people’s mandate is not recognized and the election issue is not addressed seriously, the political crisis could escalate further, negatively impacting the economy, governance, and law and order.
