PTI Rally: Man Who Ran Over Rangers Personnel Arrested
Islamabad: A man who ran over Rangers personnel during a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally in Islamabad has been arrested. Security sources confirmed that three Rangers officers were martyred and three others were severely injured in the tragic incident. Initially, reports claimed that four Rangers personnel had been killed, but later the sources verified the martyrdom of three.
The slain Rangers personnel have been identified as Sepoy Gulfam Khan, Sepoy Shah Nawaz, and Naik Muhammad Ramzan. The incident occurred when the Rangers personnel were stationed at a checkpoint.
According to security sources, CCTV footage of the incident shows a speeding car coming from behind a tree and running over the Rangers personnel before speeding away. The incident took place at 2:44 AM on November 26, 2024.
Security officials have confirmed that the process of identifying the perpetrators through the CCTV footage is ongoing. Legal action will be taken against those responsible, with the intent to ensure they face appropriate punishment.
Meanwhile, private news outlets reported that Islamabad police have arrested the driver involved in the incident. The suspect, identified as Hashim, son of Asim, is a resident of Islamabad’s F-10 area. Police seized the car from Shaheen Chowk and transferred it to the Margalla Police Station for further investigation.
