Possible Penalty or Suspension for Travis Head and Mohammad Siraj Over Code of Conduct Violation
Adelaide: Australian cricketer Travis Head and India’s Mohammad Siraj are likely to face penalties for violating the Code of Conduct during the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
The incident occurred on the third day of the second Test match in Adelaide on Sunday, when Australia chased down the target of 19 runs without losing any wickets. During India’s first innings, which ended at 180 runs, Siraj dismissed Travis Head for 140 runs. Following the dismissal, Siraj celebrated in an inflammatory manner, which provoked a negative reaction from Head. Both players were involved in unsporting conduct.
The incident has drawn criticism from former Australian cricketers and commentators. Australian media reports now suggest that both players could face formal disciplinary action from the ICC. They could be fined or given a strict warning. Considering their past records, a suspension is also being considered.
This follows an intense series, with India winning the first Test by 295 runs, while Australia leveled the series 1-1 with a dominant 10-wicket victory in the second match.
