Polio Eradication Campaign in Balochistan Delayed by One Day
Quetta: The polio eradication campaign in Balochistan has been postponed by one day and will now begin on Tuesday, December 17, instead of Monday as originally planned. The delay follows a boycott announcement by the Grand Health Alliance.
The seven-day campaign will now run from Tuesday and aims to immunize children against polio. This comes in the wake of Balochistan reporting the highest number of polio cases this year.
Despite the rising number of polio cases in Quetta, there has been no action taken against the officials responsible for polio management or the Emergency Cell in the province. The polio emergency team has already admitted that fake entries were recorded during the previous polio campaigns in Balochistan.
At present, Balochistan has become the province with the highest number of polio cases globally.
