Karachi:Renowned Pakistani actress, producer, and director Angelin Malik recently shared her distressing experience following a car accident in Karachi. Known for her outspoken nature, Malik’s vehicle collided with an auto-rickshaw shortly after the infamous Karsaz incident.
After the accident, Malik attempted to check on the rickshaw driver, but was quickly surrounded by a crowd that intimidated her and snatched her phone. Despite the chaos, she was determined to assist the rickshaw driver, offering compensation and support.
In a candid discussion on the FY Podcast on YouTube, she expressed gratitude that she remained inside her vehicle during the incident, as stepping out could have escalated the situation further. She noted her surprise at the hostility from the crowd, stating, “I’ve always been courteous, so I didn’t expect such treatment from my fellow citizens.”
Malik refuted claims that the police are ineffective, praising their response to the accident. “People often say the police don’t do anything. They came to the scene, took us to the station, and helped retrieve my phone. If the police hadn’t arrived, I wouldn’t have been able to leave the scene,” she explained.
She emphasized the importance of allowing the police to perform their duties, asserting that no man has the right to touch a woman. Malik recounted feeling a profound sense of insecurity during the ordeal. She and her team took the rickshaw driver to the hospital, fulfilling her responsibility after the accident.
Reflecting on the incident, Malik expressed her fear and frustration, particularly at the misconceptions spread online, where people assumed she was driving recklessly or under the influence. “Accidents can happen to anyone. I was scared, and the next day, videos surfaced suggesting I was at fault,” she added.
Angelin Malik’s experience sheds light on the challenges faced by women in similar situations, and her resilience in the face of adversity continues to inspire many.
