Rey Mysterio Sr.’s real name was Miguel Angel Lopez Diaz. He began his professional wrestling career in 1976 and gained fame in Mexico’s iconic wrestling style *Lucha Libre*, where he won multiple championship titles with major promotions such as the *World Wrestling Association* and *Lucha Libre AAA*. *Lucha Libre AAA* is considered equivalent to WWE in Mexico.
Mysterio Sr. also showcased his talents internationally, with notable performances, including participating in the *Starcade* event at the 1990 *World Championship Wrestling* (WCW). His unique mask and high-flying moves earned him admiration from wrestling fans across the world.
Although Rey Mysterio Sr. officially retired in 2009, he made a comeback to the ring last year. The cause of his death has not yet been disclosed, and the wrestling world mourns the loss of one of its most iconic figures.
