Islamabad:The Islamabad High Court has preserved its decision on the plea to remove the name of Sindh United Council’s head, Prince Hameed Raza, from the Exit Control List (ECL).
Chief Justice Amir Farooq of the Islamabad High Court conducted a hearing on the request to remove Prince Hameed Raza’s name from the Exit Control List.
During the hearing, the court accepted the application to remove Prince Hameed Raza’s name from the Provisional National Identity List (PNIL).
Justice Amir Farooq queried, “What is this PNIL?” to which the Deputy Attorney General explained that the PNIL list is enacted under the direction of the Supreme Court.
Chief Justice Islamabad High Court questioned whether the law can be made under the direction of the Supreme Court or the High Court. “Even with the direction, the government should have seen under which law they could act, according to the SRO, a name cannot be maintained on the list for more than two months.”
Chief Justice Islamabad High Court further said to the Deputy Attorney General, “You read this SRO yourself and got stuck in it, after sixty days why the name could not be removed from the list? Did not remove the name from the list to annoy? You will give a futile answer, then I will send you to jail for contempt of court, you play with people’s lives, no regrets.”
Assistant Director FIA replied, “Sorry, but I am not the authority,” to which the Chief Justice said further, “FIA considers themselves kings who can come and go as they wish, I will make a decision on this case.”
It should be remembered that on July 4, Islamabad High Court had asked for a response from the Secretary Interior and other parties on the plea to remove the name of Prince Hameed Raza from the Exit Control List.
Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court had asked the Deputy Attorney General during the hearing, “What do you think, they won’t come back after going out? They are political leaders, if they go out they will come back, the name has only been included in the ECL to annoy.”
