Inflation Rates Rise: Prices of Over 100 Essential Items Increase

Islamabad: The weekly inflation rate in the country has seen an increase, resulting in a rise in the prices of over 100 essential items. According to a report released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the inflation rate has increased by 0.05% this week, while the annual inflation rate stands at 12.80%.
During the recent week, the prices of 116 essential items rose, 9 items decreased in price, and 26 items remained stable. Notably, the prices of tomatoes increased by 5.78%, onions by 5.49%, chickpeas by 1.01%, potatoes by 0.94%, and jaggery by 0.82%. Additionally, firewood prices rose by 0.64%, while LPG prices saw a marginal increase of 0.15%.
Fresh milk and yogurt prices also experienced slight increases of 0.26% and 0.32%, respectively. Other notable price changes included an increase in moong dal by 1.35%, sugar by 1.30%, bananas by 1.27%, and lentils by 0.93%. Meanwhile, egg prices decreased by 0.28%, and cooking oil prices fell by 0.18%.
The statistics indicate that for households earning up to PKR 17,732 monthly, the inflation rate increased by 0.08%, reaching 9.20%. For those earning between PKR 17,733 and PKR 22,888, the inflation rate rose by 0.07% to 13.22%. For income brackets between PKR 22,889 and PKR 29,517, the inflation rate increased by 0.05% to 16.18%. In the bracket of PKR 29,518 to PKR 44,175, inflation remained steady at 13.14% with a 0.05% increase. For those earning over PKR 44,176, inflation rose by 0.04%, standing at 11.09%.
