Good News for Air Travelers: Airfare Prices Drop Significantly Across the Country

Travelers across the country are in for some good news as airfares have significantly dropped recently. Tickets that were previously available between 30,000 to 35,000 rupees are now being offered for as low as 13,000 rupees.
In response to this price drop, PIA spokesperson Abdullah Khan explained that ticket prices are determined by the laws of supply and demand. He clarified that when demand decreases, ticket prices tend to go down, and when demand rises, prices increase accordingly. Khan highlighted that during peak times such as Eid or other festive seasons, when demand is high, airfares also rise, making it clear that ticket prices are largely influenced by the season, events, and festivals.
He further stated that the airfare market operates on a free-market system, where there is no regulating body to control prices. Each airline sets its own prices. To illustrate this, he gave an example where a PIA flight might be cheaper when it has empty seats, while a flight from another airline might be more expensive despite being fully booked.
Khan explained that the current reduction in ticket prices is primarily due to the holy month of Ramadan, during which people tend to travel less. He predicted that this price reduction would continue until the 21st or 22nd day of Ramadan. However, as the long holidays approach, more people are expected to travel, which will likely lead to a rise in ticket prices. He advised travelers to take advantage of the current prices, as a significant difference in airfare is expected between now and the days before or after Eid.
