Gas Reserves Discovered in Dera Bugti, Production Begins at 5 Million Cubic Feet per Day

Dera Bugti: In a significant development for Pakistan’s energy sector, Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), with the facilitation of the State-owned Investment and Financing Company (SIFC), has successfully discovered new gas reserves in the Dera Bugti district of Balochistan and begun production.
According to Express News, the collaboration between SIFC and OGDCL has led to a crucial advancement in the country’s energy sector. Sources indicate that the growth and stability of the energy sector have been key priorities for SIFC.
The gas discovery was made at the Uch Sharif area of Dera Bugti, where OGDCL, utilizing its technical expertise, drilled a well to a depth of 1,345 meters. As a result, the company has started producing 5 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.
OGDCL has also enabled gas supply to Uch Power Limited through its Uch Gas Processing Plant. The new gas reserves are expected to significantly improve the company’s financial performance, with an anticipated profit of up to 41.02 billion Pakistani rupees.
The statement added that OGDCL is focused on increasing production to enhance national energy security and promote sustainable development. This discovery follows OGDCL’s previous gas finds in the Khairpur district of Sindh.
