Fake Signatures Scandal Uncovered at Lahore’s Gangaram Hospital, Social Welfare Officer Accused of Embezzlement

Islamabad:A major fraud case has been uncovered at Lahore’s Gangaram Hospital, where the Social Welfare Officer, Samaniyah Akhtar, has been accused of embezzling millions of rupees through fake signatures and stamps.

An official letter from the Assistant Director of Social Welfare has exposed the fraudulent activities, revealing that Samaniyah Akhtar has been embezzling funds from the Bait-ul-Mal for the past two years. According to the letter, Akhtar forged signatures on outdoor prescription slips and applied fake stamps to obtain medications for patients who did not need them.

The letter further disclosed that prescriptions for 26 patients were forged, with medications being purchased in their names. These prescriptions bore the forged signatures of Dr. Saif-ur-Rehman. In response, Dr. Saif-ur-Rehman confirmed that his signatures had been forged and the stamp was also counterfeit.

The total amount embezzled through these fraudulent transactions in the name of medications is reported to be Rs. 26,66,850. The Medical Superintendent (MS) of Gangaram Hospital has been urged to investigate the amount withdrawn over the past two years.

Dr. Arif, the Assistant Medical Superintendent of Gangaram Hospital, added that Samaniyah Akhtar, who is employed on a contract basis, is not the only officer involved in such fraudulent activities within the Social Welfare Department.
