Dollar Value in Pakistan Expected to Decline Despite Recent Fluctuations

Karachi: Experts predict that the value of the US dollar in Pakistan is likely to decrease in the coming months, despite a recent uptick in its price.
For several months, the dollar’s value in Pakistan had remained relatively stable, with only occasional fluctuations. However, last Monday, after several days, the dollar surged past the 278-rupee mark, raising concerns. Yet, currency market experts believe that this increase is temporary and that the dollar will likely see a significant reduction in the near future.
Experts in Pakistan’s currency market suggest that while the dollar has seen a slight rise recently, this is considered a short-term trend. If no major changes occur in the global or domestic landscape, the dollar is expected to trend downwards in the long run. The Pakistani government has successfully implemented strategies to keep the dollar’s value stable, despite opposition from various sectors, providing consistent support to the rupee.
If these positive measures continue—particularly efforts to curb informal channels like hawala and hundi—and the country’s economic situation remains stable, experts predict a substantial decrease in the dollar’s value.
The impact of Donald Trump’s policies on illegal immigration could also affect the value of the dollar in Pakistan. If Trump’s administration intensifies deportations of illegal immigrants, including Pakistanis, many of them may transfer their savings back to Pakistan, potentially leading to a drop in the dollar’s value.
Some experts even forecast that, if current trends persist, the dollar could reach 250 rupees within two to three months. With domestic and international conditions pointing towards a continuing decline in the dollar’s value, experts remain optimistic about a stronger rupee.
However, major political upheavals within Pakistan could alter this outlook, potentially causing the dollar’s value to rise. If the political situation remains stable, it is likely that the rupee will continue to appreciate, and the dollar will lose value in the foreseeable future.
