Suzuki Pakistan Suspends Booking of Wagon R, Marking the End of Availability in the Market

Karachi:Pak Suzuki has permanently suspended bookings for its popular hatchback, the Suzuki Wagon R, marking the end of its availability in the Pakistani market. This move comes after the company had already halted bookings for the top variant in recent months, sparking rumors that bookings for other variants could also be discontinued.

In a notification sent to dealers, Pak Suzuki confirmed that the suspension of bookings for the Wagon R would take effect from March 11, 2025. The company has instructed its dealers to inform their sales teams and potential buyers about this decision.

The Suzuki Wagon R, which was introduced in Pakistan in 2014, gained immense popularity due to its fuel efficiency. Initially, it was available in three variants with the following prices:
– **VX**: PKR 899,000
– **VXR**: PKR 1,049,000
– **VXL**: PKR 1,089,000

The car became particularly popular between 2016 and 2017, during the rise of ride-hailing services like Uber and Careem, as its spacious interior and fuel efficiency attracted drivers.

In 2020, the VX variant was discontinued, and a new top-of-the-line AGS (Automated Gear Shift) variant was introduced, featuring airbags and priced at PKR 1,890,000.

The decision to halt bookings for the Wagon R has led to speculation about a potential new model. However, a representative from Pak Suzuki clarified that there are no immediate plans for a replacement, although a new model may be launched within the next two to three years.

This development has raised questions about the future of Suzuki’s offerings in the Pakistani hatchback market, as customers and industry observers await further updates.
