DIG Imran Kishore Resigns from Police Service Amidst Discontent Over Promotion

DIG Imran Kishore, who was part of the team that arrested PTI Chairman Imran Khan from his residence in Zaman Park and conducted investigations into the May 9 incident, has resigned from the Pakistan Police Service. In his resignation letter, he stated, “I am resigning from the Police Service of Pakistan. I have upheld my oath with unwavering commitment and have paid a personal price multiple times. I have reached a point where my services are no longer feasible.”

He further mentioned, “History will bear witness that I have served with dignity. I will not serve silently any longer. Kindly accept my resignation.”

**Reasons Behind the Resignation:**

Imran Kishore, a 33rd Common officer in the police service, has held various significant positions, including DIG of Investigation, DIG OC Lahore, and DPOs of Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Narowal. He was also appointed as the head of the JIT for the Jinnah House attack case. Under his leadership, investigating officers submitted charge sheets in the Sarwar Road police case, which earned praise from the IG Punjab and CCPO Lahore, Bilal Siddique Kamyana.

Sources suggest that although DIG Administration Lahore held additional charge under Kishore, he was still working at the rank of SSP. Recently, during a Central Selection Board meeting, 17 officers were promoted to Grade 21 and 32 officers were promoted to Grade 20, with Imran Kishore’s name included in the promotion list. However, he was not promoted after some negative comments were reportedly made about him in the promotion board meeting, which led to his disillusionment and resignation.

According to police sources, two junior officers were promoted from Grade 19 to 20, becoming DIGs, while Imran Kishore was bypassed for promotion despite being due for it last year as well. This consistent neglect of his promotion has led to his decision to resign.

Sources also revealed that Imran Kishore is currently under significant mental stress. Since his resignation, he has not spoken to anyone, and his phone has been off.

**Promotions in Other Services:**

In the Pakistan Administrative Service, several officers were promoted to Grade 21, including Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister of Punjab, Sajid Zafar Dal, Captain (Retd) Mushtaq Ahmad, Yaawar Hussain, and Javed Akhtar. Meanwhile, officers promoted to Grade 20 include Kulsoom Hai, Saima Ahad, DC Islamabad Irfan Nawaz, and Captain (Retd) Fareed Din, among others.
