Colorful Inauguration Marks Start of Paris Olympics on Seine River
Islamabad:Paris Olympics officially commenced with a vibrant inauguration ceremony on the famous River Seine, where ships from 205 nations arrived, illuminating the Paris Olympics torch.
The grand opening ceremony of the world’s largest sporting event, Paris Olympics, featured stunning visuals, soul-stirring music performances by renowned singers Lady Gaga and Celine Dion, who sang the title song of the film “Titanic”. Approximately 3,000 artists are performing during the opening ceremony.
In a traditional fashion during the inauguration ceremony, delegations from various countries arrived by their respective ships. A Pakistani delegation arrived alongside ships from four other countries: New Zealand, Oman, Uganda, and Uzbekistan.
For Pakistan, the highlight of the arrival of the delegation at the Paris Olympics inauguration ceremony was the carrying of the national flag by the country’s biggest medal hopeful, Javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem. Alongside him were athletes Faqirah Riaz, Swimmers Jahangir Ara Nabi, Ahmed Durani, and officials.
Due to the event’s location approximately 3.5 hours away from the event venue, Pakistani shooters Z Kishmala Tariq, Gulfam Joseph, and GM Bashir could not participate in the opening ceremony.
The competition for Pakistani shooters at the Paris Olympics will begin today. At 1:30 PM, Gulfam Joseph will compete in the 10-meter air pistol event, followed by Kishmala Tariq in the women’s 10-meter air pistol event at 3:30 PM.
On the other hand, a special ceremony was held at the Pakistani embassy to honor the participation of the Pakistani delegation in the Paris Olympics. Federal Minister IPC Rana Tanveer was also a special guest at the event.
Pakistani athletes Arshad Nadeem, Faqirah Riaz, Ahmed Durani, and Jahangir Ara Nabi participated in the ceremony.
